The Royal Oak Inn

Our most local pub, in the centre of Dunsford. Good value, well presented food and very friendly owners. Dogs very welcome on a lead. Don’t miss the fish and chips on a Friday night …..they are excellent. royaloakd.com

Places to walk
Steps Bridge

A beautiful walk along the river to Clifford Bridge and beyond with lovely scenery and an array of wild flowers and birds. Don’t miss the wild daffodils in the Spring and the bluebells in early summer. Five minutes drive from the cottage on the B3212 towards Moretonhampstead.

Parke, National Trust, near Bovey Tracey

A Tranquil country park where you can have a stroll through meadows and woodland, explore a walled garden, have a picnic or eat in the cafe and search out wildlife and fauna. Dog friendly. www.nationaltrust.org.uk/parke

Devon walks

Choose from a wide selection of walks in and around Devon through ‘Discover Devon’. From a full day’s trek, to a one hour ramble, a guided walk to a family stroll. www.discoverdevon.co.uk

Teignmouth

A lovely unspoiled seaside resort about 30 minutes drive from Lockhouse Farm Cottage. Have a stroll along the seafront or browse the shops. Visit neighbouring Shaldon and take a walk through the Smuggler’s tunnel to the beach beyond or visit the zoo there. www.visitsouthdevon.co.uk/teignmouth

Canoteign Falls

Visit Canoteign Falls, just a short drive from the cottage on the B3193. It has the highest man-made waterfall in England along with a lovely café serving home made cakes and home cooked lunches. It also has a very well stocked gift shop selling local crafts and produce. Well worth a visit. www.canonteignfalls.co.uk
